Many thanks to the candidates in line at "Fashion Untitled"

I was finally able to get a glimpse at my competition while standing in line at the Bravo Casting Call for their UNTITLED FASHION SHOW (the newest Reality of Fashion Show to replace Klume's Runway ).  I saw young men trying to sell the idea of Michael Jackson leather studded trousers complete with Gold lemme paint. My eyes didn't deceive me.  And a style that should be so over- the little girl Alice in Wonderland dresses; and finally, some over the top robotic number ( Really- this is not fashion for the future is it? ) And our youngest contestants had the best.  Maybe everybody raising a child in the eighties forgot to tell their babes that it was alright to play with dolls and watch TV cause all I see from my young peers are childlike fashion.  Though, I saw a young black female designer with one of the funkiest colorful tops, she didn't forget that color is always important to fashion.  She used frilly arms, overlayed polka dots onto a jersey, and flouncy woven skirts.  She was smart, she stuck to her core audience.  Judges passed on her.  What are they looking for?

Directly my competition, had I realized too, brought a bunch of Corsets built garments made with woven empire waists.  Cute? yes. Has been done?  yes. in 2006- I designed and sold that same top and thought it best to leave behind in fear of being pointed out by others as a has been/ too old/ not in touch.  After all, when I design clothing, I try to assemble items and collections that have not been done yet by most people.  Currently I find that inspiration comes from my personal loss.

My mother left us a few months ago. Until then, I hadn't felt the need to finally make good use of my talents as a designer and as a spokesperson for those that didn't have a mom.  I, thank god had my mommy till I was an adult.  Imagine, if you will, that you had not been shown the love of a mom?  If you were lucky enough as I too have one, than great.  However those children left behind in third world countries made to build clothing in manufacturing plants so that we can get a bargain at the rack is awful and would be painful.  Hence, I brought up my designed clothing collection that would hope to bring hope to others by socially conscious business structure to aid in the orphanages overseas and by indigenous people such as my mother was.  But, thats not what the TV producers wanted.  I thought let me bring my original denim line, just to be told that they couldn't get a sense of my design capabilities.

Stupid?  Yes.

Self Proclaiming - I Admit that my talent is not just an idea, I lead the pavement towards a socially conscious price point in fashion because we here in America CAN afford to pay for the right(s) of others.

I designed, "ProteKt by Mildred Brignoni Productions" - Scarves coming soon to a Better Contemporary Boutique near you.
