Defining your personal style takes either instinct or a professional. Either way, we focus on our first impressions while we actually do not reveal much of the decision making process. Therefore, taking a direct approach to fashion social media sites cropping up could help. Or could it?
After spending years in the production and creative side of the business, I had styled celebrities with naughty attitudes, helped generate high profits for both fashion brands and motion picture releases with the wears I draped on the backs of my subjects, and finished financing projects through media outlets paid endorsements. Until I had finally learned my lesson. Even after that sexy side of the business, I hadn't paid my dues in honing my business skills, and I embarked on the back end by traveling the world in search of denim qualities that used green methods and designed a collection of premium denim for women that both taught me international manufacturing and sales. All this makes a fashionista ready to hang up her Choos!
As 2010 ended, I decided to find my niche in the world of fashion 2.0. Nowhere else but New York City could a woman in her early 40's re-invent herself as a pioneer in the glamorous world of fashion's technology startups. On one spring evening, I headed out to see what kind of disruption was happening on fashion's tech world competition. Lovely sites exist that offer help shop sample sales like Mynines.com while others couturious.com assist in sharing your closet with partners such as styletrek.com. Trying these sites on for size and style over the last few months, I tested the markets to help me not make snap judgments, however neither proved worthy of the time, nor effectiveness. Most women would agree that shopping is a religion and it has yet to be proven that cyberistas are symbolic through their advice. The worst part is that these online businesses (claiming social media works ) do not offer any better deals - any more so than the actual boutiques! I wish I could say otherwise, but the measurements will prove that they don't offer the consumer any other experience other than convenience. Another fascination I have is helping cool little boutiques like this that need serious exposure. And so I ask why aren't more investors pooring more of their venture money into this space? Too risky is what one ventur-ist told me. Well, sorry, we don't make up the trillion dollar industry that the rel estate industry offers. Still elsewhere, I find aggregated e-commerce sights like boutiques.com which of course Google paid for to be the top of the heap claiming " with a much richer and interactive shopping experience " than other sites like shopstyle.com
( although credible having represented themselves at a NYC fashion 2.0 meetup.com ) have been served up by Silicon Valley genius. Are they going to succeed? Duh!...
I risk it all to now find myself an investor that wants to hear the truth on winning. So, lets slip on our duck boots and dig our heels into the muddy truth. I seek a high level successful CTO or an investment / partner to work on the future of bridging both fashion's searing needs and the change I have planned for the industry that will forever become the standard used platform. I have the answer.
